Board Membership

USBACC is a platform dedicated to increasing bilateral trade between the United States and Africa. Established in 2010 as a Chamber of Commerce, USBACC has worked with US and African, small and medium size businesses, governments and trade organizations to provide information on business & trade opportunities.

At this moment to ensure continuity, we are recruiting volunteer e-board members to join for the year 2022-2024 to serve a two year term. Serving on the USBACC e-Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about strengthening leadership and governance in the U.S Africa Trade Sector.

The e-Board of Directors will comprise leaders dedicated to USBACC’s mission and vision, in addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board member, we are looking for members who will collectively provide direction and guidance, provide policy oversight and assist with long-term strategic planning. We would love candidates who desire to participate actively in the activities as pro-active advocates and ambassadors fully engaged in identifying and securing resources, financial needs and bilateral business opportunities, as we recognize the importance of a strong and effective board.

eBoard Member Expectations

Board members are expected to attend 5 mandatory e-board meetings per year, read board material ahead of meetings and come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions. Additionally they are expected to serve on one or more committees of the board and to actively participate in committee work.

Board members are expected to play an active role in securing the financial resources necessary for USBACC to achieve its mission. Board members are expected to leverage personal relationships and connections to help the development committee and staff to identify and solicit potential funders, as well as directly invest in USBACC’s work by making a personal contribution each year.

Board members are expected to responsibly represent USBACC to their respective communities and to advocate for our mission, programs, and services as appropriate. Board terms last for two years and board members can serve for up to two consecutive terms. The ideal candidate would have experience serving in a non-profit board, or received formal board training and have strong connections to decision makers who are in a position to positively impact USBACC’s work.

USBACC is soliciting nominations to join the Chamber’s e-board of directors to further the goals of the organization. In order to apply for board membership, candidates must be a paid member, live in the United States or Africa, submit a resume, and a letter of interest.
